More and more healthcare providers recommend their patients have a healthcare representative or advocate.  At Smart Health Decisions our healthcare representative is an experienced registered nurse available to assess a medical situation for healthcare consumers.  Their primary purpose is to serve as a consumer supporter, offering a trained set of eyes and ears to help the consumer get the best healthcare possible.  They are available to accompany consumers on medical appointments or visit consumers where they are receiving care.  Healthcare representatives can explain diagnoses and treatments, suggest questions to ask providers, describe and look for appropriate care, make recommendations to better coordinate care in order to prevent oversights and mistakes, help care givers understand and follow care instructions, and share concerns.  Healthcare representatives facilitate consistent, complete, and clear communication among consumer-patients, providers, and loved ones within confidentiality guidelines.
